Ezra is on steroids again and boy has it been fun. I think they should hand out a scrip for valiums for the parents along with the scrip for roids for your child. Makes sense.
Anyway, he isn’t quite as bad as he was the first time, but he is still crabby, dazed, and irrational.
I am also crabby and irrational, when it becomes too much I find a mental happy place, and chant out loud “Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” over and over….it helps, try it.
See the daze…? It will break your heart. He looks sick now, its hard to see. Anyway, he has been insisting we go on wheeee’s which are rides in the stroller, which we haven’t done since the last time he was on the steroids, which was like 2 months ago.
So early the other morning…I don’t even think I had drank my coffee yet, Ezra insisted we go wheeee. Ask any parent who has been through the child roid rage and they will tell you its just easier to bend the rules during that time…thus he controls a lot of what we do.
So off we go, the weather has actually cooled down, at 7am we had to wear warmer clothes.
Rowan…..what can I say, so stinking cute, but so darn naughty. He is just such an annoying inquisitive little boy.
So you may be asking yourself what the heck is in Ezra’s mouth? That’s Teddy. Ezra’s sacred teddy bear. He likes to suck on Ted’s ass tail. He sucks on it like a normal kid would a pacifier. Ted butt sucking has increased greatly since the start of the steroids. Ted gets washed every other day, and his butt gets dried twice a day. Ted is a lot of work… I just can’t bring myself to take it away from him after all he has been through.
I think we wheeeed three times that day. And so we wheeee, we run, we skip, and Ro picks flowers.
And wheeee can’t wait until the steroids are over.

Poor little one. I've read about what the roids do to professional wrestlers, so I can imagine what it might be like with a toddler. ;-) Hang in there, we're all rooting for you guys! (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeletePoor thing.... He does look a little dazed in that first picture, you can see it in his face. I'm glad he has his "wheeees" (such a cute way to say it!) to help him feel better. Hannah chews on her blankies too. Or her shirt. Or whatever is handy. Drives me nuts! ;-)
ReplyDeletePoor little guy ((HUGS)) to him. I love the fact the the walks make him feel good. Great exercise for you too!
ReplyDeleteOh...I can see it in his face. How long does he have to be on the roids this time?
ReplyDelete1. I have 5 kids and think valium should be readily available to any parent...esp those with 12 year old girls...shoot me please.
ReplyDelete2. Just keep swimming...Haha ! That is from Finding Nemo...is it sad I know that?
3. The teddybear thing is sooo cute! That will be a great story to tell at the wedding reception when he gets married! (or on his first date)
Amazing pictures. And wow. Mommying a toddler is hard enough. Mommying a roid raging toddler needing weeees is a whole other thing. So many postive thoughts and support to you! You're a wonderful mom.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are so beautiful! There's nothing worse than a toddler on steroids. You have my sympathy.
ReplyDeleteI love his Teddy! I can see it in his face/eyes, but I do see his stregnth as well! I like that you bend the rules during Roid raging times. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad he has Teddy. I bet it is such a comfort to him during these sad and scary times. You are a lovely mother, giving him his Whee's!
ReplyDeleteYes, I understand the roid rage. Oh my gosh that stuff should definitely come with happy pills for Mom too. But I just think of how miserable it makes me feel and imagine how miserable they must feel. I think you are awesome for the job you are doing with Ezra and he has a great Mom!
ReplyDeleteThey make me crazy and I'm an adult. I can't imagine how he must feel not knowing why he feels to odd.
ReplyDeleteOh, that Teddy butt sucking thing is a great blackmail item for when he grows up. Think of the mileage you'll get on that one!!
ReplyDeleteJust keep swimming - and walking. I'm sure somehow he knows that getting fresh air and exercise is exactly what you all need to keep somewhat sane. Wheee!
magoo is sitting here, looking at ezra with me, and while i cry... magoo looks at ezra's pictures and is offering his pacifer to "the bebay."
ReplyDeleteyou are so loved.
I think they should issue Valium ANYTIME they prescribe meds for a sick kid. I can only imagine what it must be like for you but when mine just have the simple flu or cold it's "Mommy, mommy, MOMMY!"
ReplyDeleteHang in there...as the good book says "This to shall pass." Think of it this way...Ezra's helping you get your exercise with his wheee time. ;)
Awww, poor baby. He doesn't look like he's feeling all that great. I can't imagine. I like that he finds peace in going on his wheeee's, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the commitment you have to your boys. And Teddy. And Teddy's ass. :) Even though I'm sure you're about over this phrase - hang in there! - you've got a lot of people cheering for you.
ReplyDelete1. I can't imagine how he must feel - as adults they make us nuts!
ReplyDelete2. I just gave you an award - come see!
3. Are you doing the blog for a cure?
I love stopping by to read your blog, but even more I love your photography! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your compliments on my photos! I really can NOT wait to get my dslr! I'm currently trying to get some photo sessions lined up so maybe I can get on the path to saving money for my camera...yay! :)
ReplyDeletePoor little guy! I hope that all goes well and this will be the last bout with the steroids. I wish you both a happy weekend, may it be less crabby and full of fun. With a Wheeee thrown in there here and there!
ReplyDeleteI have an award for you on my blog~
ReplyDeletehttp://wwwtheadventuresofcrazymumcom.blogspot.com/2009/10/my-1st-blog-award.html
You'll end up having the Roid Rage!
ReplyDeleteHang in there.
What a sweetie. Poor bebe!!
ReplyDelete{Thanks for stopping by on my SITS day!!}
Oh that first photo just breaks my heart. Poor baby...taking care of my guy with just his typical moodswings can sometimes send me screaming from the house. I can't imagine what life would be like if he has some help from steroids. You must feel so conflicted...sad for him for what he's going through, but naturally frustrated by his mood swings. How totally draining.
ReplyDeleteHe's a tough little cookie you can see it, and he knows wheee time with mom is the best, even if he is crabby because of meds! He gets his toughness from you! Keep kicking that cancer's butt!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I just don't comment because everything I make up in my head sounds so damn trite. So cliche.
ReplyDeleteI am here thinking of you all though. Just wanted you to know.
I totally agree - just break the rules. Maybe the fresh air will do you some good, too! I used to take Jon walking before a 9:30 therapy session. He would walk 1 mile up a HUGE hill in San Francisco, I'd have his toddler sister on my back, and we'd take the bus home. Anything to keep the day going!
ReplyDeleteThose roids.. definately the one of the harder parts of treatment. Just keep swimming... :)
