Why you should ask Santa for a DSLR camera:
- Because they are amazing, and you will thank yourself later!
- Because it is always fun to learn something new.
- Better pictures = better blog.
- Great pictures, will make for repeat visitors to your blog.
- To record your family's moments.
- To challenge yourself.
- To look really cool toting around a huge camera
. - To learn an art form.
- To have more creative control
- Because my dear blogging friend Lolli and I are going to help teach you!
Yes, DSLR camera’s can be extremely overwhelming, especially when you know nothing about them…or the basic rules of photography.
Fear not, my friends, we are here to help!
Beginning in January, Lolli and I will be writing digital photography tutorials. A tutorial will be posted with a photography assignment, the following week you can return and leave the link to the pictures you took! There will even be contests with prizes!
Why Bloggography?
Both Lolli and I, have been asked several times now by other bloggers on how we take our pictures. It got us thinking it would have been really nice if we had someone out there telling us how to use our cameras when we were starting out. Together, we came up with the idea of presenting simple photography tutorials for bloggers like you and me. Blogger + Photography = Bloggography!
We plan to teach you not just what the settings mean, but how to find the button, and how to use it! There are really only a handful of buttons/settings you need to know to get great pictures with a DSLR. Not all tutorials will be focused on DSLRs and the assignments and contests will be open to anyone with a camera!
I am a Nikon girl, and Lolli is a Canon girl, so you will have both of us chiming in on how to use your cameras, as most people have either a Nikon or Canon (sorry if you don’t).
What should I buy?

I am interested in learning more! A DSLR is on the top of my Santa list this year!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm all over this one. I'm attached at the hip with my camera already, but I am in DIRE need of some creative challenges. WOOHOO!
ReplyDeleteFun!!
ReplyDeleteOh Beth...How I love you.
ReplyDeleteI *think* I'm pretty good with my Canon Rebel XTi but the pictures I took this week were TERRIBLE! I don't know what happened!
I've taken an online class and learn quite a bit....but I think I've forgotten some of it or something's gone terribly wrong.
Putting your button on my blog.
Can I just say that *I* am excited about this, too? Don't they always say that the teacher learns more than the student?
ReplyDeleteI have a Canon Rebel and I have no clue how to use it to its full potential, so I am excited for the tutorials!!
ReplyDeleteCount me in...sound fun! Can't wait to learn about my camera (olympus evolt) Kim
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this it's not even funny! I bought my Canon Rebel in February and use only a smidgeon of it's capabilities (much to my dismay!) so I am thrilled to learn more!
ReplyDeleteI just told myself I didn't deserve a DSLR because I didn't have time to learn how to use it. This after taking 600 fuzzy photos of my toddler this morning because I can't get the right balance of light/shutter speed. I forwarded this link to my hubby just in case Santa is wondering what I might like this year... since now I might have an easy way to learn how to use it... {GREAT idea for the bloggography!!!}
ReplyDeleteI have a D90 and would love to know how to use it! Kind of sad that I probably only use 1/100th of it's possibilities
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I want a new camera, putting it on the list now!

My birthday is tomorrow (Dec. 7th) and this year is the first time The Hubs gave me a combo birthday/Christmas present, and I don't mind because it was the Nikon D90 with lens!!! WooHoo!!!
ReplyDeleteNow you are going to show me how to use is correctly, I am SO STOKED... Thank you... :-)
I accidentally stumbled upon my husbands shopping list for Christmas this year and eeek! DSLR coming my way... unless he was trying to throw me off the scent.. for which I will return other gift and still get DSLR
ReplyDeleteI have a Nikon D60, is that a good one?
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I read this entry! I just got a Nikon D90 with an extra lens to add on for Christmas and can't wait to learn how to use them. My husband and I have been messing around with it a bit, but I will definately tune into your tutorials. Thank you, thank you!
