After Ezra was diagnosed, I made it a personal goal to make a special play area for the boys. I knew we would be spending so much more time at home, and I felt it was important the boys had somewhere to play. So I converted our sunroom into a playroom, it gets far more use now! I added a lot of little touches to make it a magical fun place for them. One of those things was our magic fairy door.
Its a little dollhouse door, and I tell the boys that is how the fairies get into our house. The fairies leave notes and treats. Once while Ro and I were on vacation the fairies even put all of his Transformer toys back together. The fairies have also been known to steal toys now and then.
I loved making this, it only fueled my desire to have a dollhouse of my own even further. I have decided that even if I don’t have a daughter, I will someday make and own my own dollhouse. Because I am crazy, and little things are so cute!
To make your own you will need:
- wooden dollhouse door (hinged or unhinged)
- dollhouse doorknob
- paint
- hot glue
- first paint your door and dry, I also added a clear coat to mine because it was kind of dull.
- hot glue the door knob on
- hot glue it to the wall and enjoy!
I ordered all of the materials I used through an online dollhouse miniature store. I thought the mailbox was an added touch, it even opens up so we can put letters in it!
