Two Months

_DSC59682monthd

Judah, this last month we have watched you turn more into a little person. You now turn towards our voices, smile (while conscious), you coo a lot  more, and you are getting stronger (and chubbier) every day.

You are a really good baby. I would say about 70% of the time when I lay you down while  your still awake, you fall asleep on your own. Sometimes you cry for a few minutes and then fall asleep. You are Ferberizing yourself,  and I so appreciate it. You tend to be a little more difficult in the early evening,  but for the most part you are pretty fantastic.

I apologize for stuffing you in a pumpkin, but what kind of photographer would I be if I didn’t? And so you don’t feel bad, we did it to your brother too.

I Bet You Didn’t Know…

image

that September was Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

or that the ribbon is gold.

I bet you didn’t know:

that cancer is the number one disease that kills our children.

that a little over 1,500 kids will die this year from cancer.

that close to 11,000 kids a year are diagnosed with cancer.

and that the number is rising.

I bet you didn’t know:

that the cure rate is also rising, but there is no complete cure.

that the type of leukemia my son has, has a 85-90% cure rate

that I tear up every time I read that statistic, because 90% isn’t good enough for my son.

I bet you didn’t know:

that childhood cancer research is greatly underfunded.

as is the awareness.

I bet you didn’t know about childhood cancer month because your grocery shelves weren’t lined with gold cereal boxes and bags of chips.

And the white house wasn’t lit up gold in September. You likely didn’t change your Facebook picture gold in honor of the month either.

I am not upset over all the attention breast cancer gets, quite the opposite is true. I think it is amazing and wonderful, because when it comes down to it, cancer is cancer.

I just wish our children received the same.

Because I ask you would 85-90% cure rate be good enough for your child?

Be informed. Be aware.

HUGE Favor

*Waving* Hello, readers, I know your out there, I have a huge favor to ask of all of you. And there is something in it for you too! As a lot of you know I run a small photography business in North Central Florida. Now that I am no longer pregnant I really need to work on marketing (which I suck at).

One way I thought could really help me was to increase my Google landing page, which really stinks right now. Aside, from paying someone to get me better SEO results, I thought why not ask my fellow bloggers out?

Here is where I need your help. Could you please (pretty please) link to my photography blog either add it to your blog roll, or if you don’t have one I have a button you can add to your side bar. I have no idea if this will help, but I figure it can’t hurt
.

What’s in it for you?

Add my link to your blog and I will return the favor, which will help your search engine results too! I will either add your button (if you have one) to my scrolly thingy in my side bar. Or I will add your link to a page I have made specifically for blog love.

Just leave me a comment letting me know you linked to my photography blog and the link to your blog and consider it done!

Thanks!

And in case you want to go all out, you can “like” me on Facebook too.

Project 365 | iPhone app

I have always wanted to take a picture every day and document it, but honestly I am too scared to bring my camera most places. Then the other day I saw on Momtog she was talking about an iPhone app that allows you to document your year with your Iphone, perfect!

The app is called Project 365, and it has a little calendar with you to fill with pictures. It even sends you a text to remind you to take a picture.

October

Sure, the resolution is crappy and the pictures are small but at least you will have the memories this way. I just had to share, incase you have always wanted to do a picture a day too! And you love your iPhone as much as me…

On a Roll

_DSC5007web3

A little boy I know rolled over today. We took the boys outside tonight and I laid Judah on his belly to take a few pictures, he wasn’t really having it and rolled himself over to his back. To make sure it wasn’t a fluke I put him on his belly again, and sure enough he rolled over again!

Also isn’t he getting chunky?! He can no longer fit into the newborn clothes, and it is a tight fit to put him in the 0-3 month clothes. Surely this must be some human error on my part, I must be shrinking the clothes in the wash. He can’t be growing that fast, can he?

Fall Is In The Air…..

I love Fall, it is one of my favorite times of the year. After the hottest summer Florida has seen in awhile, we are all welcoming the cool breezes and perfect temperatures. Fall in Florida is comparable to Summer in Minnesota. We Floridians spend as much time outside as we can in the Fall.

I love all the possibilities of Fall. The pumpkin patches, corn mazes, the fall breeze, molasses cookies, candy corn, and trick or treating to name a few.

We took the boys to a local pumpkin “patch”. Patch is a loose term in the sense that there isn’t really a patch just a tent with a lot of pumpkins. I don’t think pumpkins grow that well in FL’s sandy soil. I do miss the real pumpkin patches on farms in Minnesota.

I have had the house decorated since the end of September. I love Halloween, almost more than Christmas. At least with Halloween there isn’t the pressure of gift buying.

Yes, I have a Halloween village. I am a sucker for those villages, and little things. The boys love it, Ezra makes sure I turn the lights on every morning.

Ezzie giving this amazing pumpkin a hug. We thought Ro was just sitting on the pumpkin, but he informed us he was farting on it *sigh*, boys……

My Halloween advent calendar I made a couple of years ago, I copied the Pottery Barn one. We tell the boys that a witch comes and brings them a surprise every night. My husband has been telling them if they don’t behave the witch will bring them worms.

I think I am especially excited for Fall this year because Ezra is healthy (minus the whole Leukemia thing). Last year we were too worried about his immunity and germs to do much with him. This will be his first year trick or treating. I love how normal his childhood has finally become now that he is in the maintenance phase of his chemotherapy.

The boys picked out some great pumpkins. Now I just have to decide how I am going to let them decorate them, they are a little young to be carving anything. We usually paint them, but do any of you have any other ideas?

I ordered the boys costumes yesterday, I wish I had enough time to make them costumes, but there is a little needy new-ish baby in the house.

Watch out for peanut butter smothered vampires…..

What is your favorite part of Fall?
